Location. Guests entering the arresting gold leaf domed lobby of the The Langham Hotel Auckland, New Zealand, may not be surprised to learn that this property is registered with The Leading Hotels of the World. The hotel is located in downtown Auckland four blocks from the Auckland Domain, Auckland's largest urban green space, which houses the Auckland Museum. Longer strolls down to the waterfront are also a delightful way to enter and explore the city isthmus.
Hotel Features. The hotel's award winning signature restaurant Partingtons, features European inspired cuisine combined with New Zealand flavours. Menu includes seafoods, other meats, and an extensive wine list (over 500). The restaurant also has a degustation (tasting) menu and private dining room.
Guestrooms. The 410 guestrooms tell a warm color story, using teal, gold and chocolate hues. All guestrooms include 42 inch plasma televisions, New hush glass windows mitigates street level noise. Expert Tip. This property has recently completed a US$12 million refurbishment. The Auckland based Raj Design group conceived an integrated design concept that counters a strong prevailing minimalist d�cor trend in luxury hotels. Raj's vision favors unabashed opulence, rich textures and warm colors. Specific examples of the hotel's mannered "maximalism" include the winery's coffered ceiling and chandeliers. Guestrooms include dramatic burr walnut bed headboards, floor to ceiling drapes, antique styled furniture and lights, rich bedding and scented pillows in Egyptian linens. The hotel was established in 1865 and the Raj Design group trawled the history books in order to interpret late Nineteenth Century decorative styles with modern materials.
