Pousada de Viana do Castelo is an attractively restored early 20th century hotel set in gardens on the hill of Santa Luzia, overlooking the town of Viana do Castelo and the river Lima, located one kilometer from the town center. The 48 air conditioned guestrooms have a light decor and modern furnishings. Bathrooms are complete with handheld showers, bidets and hair dryers and all rooms are equipped with modern amenities such as cable TV, direct dial phones and minibars.
Guests can bronze on the terraces, cool off with a dip in the pool, enjoy a game of tennis or take a stroll in the surrounding gardens and woods. The bar offers a selection of drinks and the restaurant serves regional Portuguese cuisine, as well as many international dishes, accompanied by a selection of fine Portuguese wines. Room service is also available. Staff at the 24 hour front desk can advise on local attractions; guests can visit the 15th century cathedral and enjoy a coffee in Republica Square by the town hall and fountain, one kilometer away. Alternatively the towns of Braga and Vigo are 50 kilometers away. Porto Airport is 77 kilometers from the hotel. Buses run every 30 minutes from the airport to the Porto city center; trains run from Porto to Viana do Castelo.
